What is Climate Change?
Climate Change is no secret; it is no longer a doomsday story that could be mistaken for a bedtime story. No matter how much it is denied, fact always wins against stupidity- Climate Change is happening. Climate Change can be defined as a change in global climate patterns; it is not natural, but instead influenced by the the burning of fossil fuels, which producers more atmospheric carbon dioxide. This issue is serious, as a warming Earth is bad for every corner of the globe.
What is Canada doing to combat Climate Change?
All information presented below is from the Government of Canada website. I do not own any of this information.
Contributing to Global Efforts
The Government of Canada is committed to working with international partners to reach an ambitious global agreement this is anchored in science and leads the world towards a low-carbon, climate resilient economy. Canada is also committed to supporting the poorest and most vulnerable countries to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change, and is doing its part to mobilize critical investments that will achieve sustained emissions reductions in developing countries.
Collaborating with Provinces and Territories
The Government of Canada will provide national leadership and join with the provinces and territories to take action on climate change, put a price on carbon, and reduce carbon pollution. Together, we will:
The Government of Canada will protect Canada’s communities and grow our economy by making significant new investments in green infrastructure and clean technologies. As part of this commitment, we will:
Collaborating with Provinces and Territories
The Government of Canada will provide national leadership and join with the provinces and territories to take action on climate change, put a price on carbon, and reduce carbon pollution. Together, we will:
- Attend the Paris climate conference, and formally meet within 90 days to establish a pan-Canadian framework for combatting climate change.
- Set a truly national target that we will work together to achieve.
- Ensure that the provinces and territories have targeted federal funding and the flexibility to design their own carbon pricing policies.
The Government of Canada will protect Canada’s communities and grow our economy by making significant new investments in green infrastructure and clean technologies. As part of this commitment, we will:
- Endow a $2 billion Low Carbon Economy Trust to fund projects that reduce carbon.
- Fulfill our G20 commitment and phase out subsidies for the fossil fuel industry.
- Work with the Provinces and Territories to develop a Canadian Energy Strategy to protect Canada’s energy security, encourage energy conservation, and bring cleaner renewable energy into the electricity grid.
How is this all helping to stop Climate Change?
Believe it or not, small steps is what is required to stop this issue from getting out of hand. By investing, taxing and cooperating with the fossil fuel industry and carbon producers the hope is that the cost will become to expensive, and there will be less of a reliance on fossil fuels to power the nation. With this in mind, more money is being spent on renewable resources, in an attempt to make the country efficient and cleaner and doing everything in it's power to stop this issue. This is reducing the CO2 emissions produced, which means less Carbon Dioxide in the Atmosphere and will eventually lead to a cleaner country and more climatically stable country. Although the costs will continue to get expensive, it is worth every cent; it is better to be safe than sorry.
